Just before the COVID-19 lockdowns, when Gurugram was beginning to down its shutters and Delhi was about to do the same, we went out for a long-scheduled trip to Manesar near Gurugram. While most hotels were closing down or were about to, this place in Tauru was still open and provided some much needed peace and natural beauty.

Post-pandemic, we decided to travel again by road in September 2021, but had many apprehensions. Jaipur was a roadable distance from Delhi. In the heart of the city, you can shop till you drop – some of the stuff is quite affordable. The temples there are quite old and sacred to Hindus. A trip down the lane of history was, in the final analysis, an exhilarating experience. The Charan Mandir on the road up to Amer has preserved footprints of Lord Krishna and his cows, and the Kanak Vrindavan mandir in Jaipur still retains its aura of piety.
