Aditi Mangaldas and Drishtikon dancers create 6 short dance films to raise funds for #ArtMatters
Many dancers, musicians and other artists have made efforts to raise funds for the needy in the arts community affected by the COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown. One such initiative is being taken by Kathak exponent Aditi Mangaldas. She is collaborating with the design house Raw Mango and #ArtMatters to support the performing artists’ community during the lockdown by creating a series of short dance films called ‘Within… from within’.
The press material says that ‘“Within... from within” is a combined effort of Aditi, Raw Mango and Teamwork Fine Arts Society, urging the patrons and art enthusiasts to come forward and support the artist community and their families. The need of the hour is to not only reach out to those who need relief but also ensure that everybody understands #ArtMatters.’ The money collected will go directly to #ArtMatters.
Aditi’s note is below:
‘Belonging to a small community of artists in India who are privileged, I felt compelled to offer an artistic experience rather than just make an appeal. I hope viewers will consider ‘Within… from within’ as an offering to bring them something to cherish and cheer and encourage them to open their hearts to donate.
The initiative ‘ Within...from within’ hopes to raise awareness about their plight as well as raise funds for the struggling artists. This series of six dance films, just over a minute each, have been conceptualized, choreographed and directed by me and performed by the members of my dance company. The films bring together the dance company’s original production “WITHIN” and the artists’ current creative impulse, from within the confines of their homes.’
The project will be launched on 17 June, when the first film is premiered on Raw Mango’s online portals. Thereafter, one film will be released every day for the next 5 days.
Film 1: Entwined
Exploring our innermost spaces where humanity and brutality, good and bad seem to lie in half embrace.
Film 2: Meltdown
Waiting to be disentangled. Waiting to find expression in ways that shape our lives, our actions, our selves.
Film 3: Enframed
Is there another way to discover the sky, the eternity within us?
Film 4: Wrapped

Film 5: Unravel
Do the times compel us to look ‘within’? To recognize our deepest, most complex emotions.
Film 6: Empassion
